The Van Zandt County Emergency Services District # 3 (VZESD #3) was created by a majority vote of landowners in 2013. VZESD #3 is a local government unit that provides services to local landowners. It was created to provide a consistent funding every year dedicated to fire protection. We contract with South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department (SVZVFD) to provide fire protection services. SVZVFD maintains four stations strategically placed in the district that allows most homeowners a better ISO rating with their fire insurance.

If there is no burn ban in effect and you are going to conduct outdoor burning,
please be careful and notify Van Zandt County's Fire Dispatch at (903) 567-4133
to let them know when and where you will be conducting a controlled burn.

The Van Zandt County Emergency Services District #3 has proposed the tax rate of $0.0909697 per $100.00 evaluation for the 2023/2024 Budget year. A public hearing will be held on September 14, 2023 at 6:00 pm at the SVZVFD Station #4 located at 24632 State Highway 64, Canton, TX 75103.
